Making pies

 

Today we made the pie recipes that got chosen. I made the chicken bacon pasta pie with miss joblin Ananya Zac Mia Flora and Maddy. I got to cut up some chicken and some cheese. We cooked the pasta in a pot while the pasta was cooking we cut up some chicken and onion well misss joblin cut up the onion it made our eyes water. Then when the pasta was ready we got to eat some to see if it was ready and then put the pasta into a bowl. Then we put the basil pesto into a new bowl and then we put some tarragon into the bowl with the basil pesto in and mixed it up. Then we cut some bacon up into small bits and put it into the pot to cook. Then all we needed to do was wait till the bacon was ready and then put all the filling into the bowl that has the chicken and onion in it. By the time we were done doing that the bacon was ready so we put that bacon it the bowl and mixed it up a bit more the we put glad rap on the top of the bowl then put the bowl in the fridge and tomorrow we are going to make the pies and put them in a pie maker.

yesterday we made a recipe about pie's I did mine about a apple, blueberry, raspberry, mint, rosemary and cinnamon. 

The disco

 

On Friday I went to the rural school disco that the foms set up. It had a DJ and smoke machine. It was awesome I got a face paint  pizza and slushy's. Pam bought some glow sticks for the disco and she gave us 8 dollars to get some tickets for slushy's pizza and popcorn. There was about 200 hundred people there from other schools and our school. It started at 5 pm and finished at 7 pm. I met heaps of people. my favorite food there was the pizza there was pepperoni cheese and Hawaiian Pizza I tried all of the pizza's. I hung out with Tasmin Maddy and Natalie the most.

My pie poster

 

Today we made pie posters. Because we are  going to make pies in class next week to eat.we are making pie posters to Brighton Callums shop up. Mr Milne said it had to be colorful ,bold ,clear with important information. I'm going to put raspberry, apple, blueberry, mint and Rosemary. If Callum likes my pie I get some free pies . I  might ask my mum to make my pie at home for desert. I don't think my pie is going to be the best but its worth a try. I think Callum is going to like to posters. I like making pie posters they are fun. Callum is going to make the pastry for us when we make the pies. We did a vote to see who's pie will get made the winners were Mia, Amber, Manaia , Ethan , P.j and Jed. Mia made  a chicken bacon and pasta pie. Amber made a fruit pie. Manaia made the apple crumble pie. P.j made a  crispy bacon and egg pie. Ethan made the cheese burger pie. Jed made the venison pie.

Herb testing

 

Today we did some herb testing. To see what herbs will go in our pies. We tested rosemary thyme garlic chives mustard seeds oregano parsley chili flakes mint sage and basil. Miss Joblin cooked the herbs. Then she gave us a herb we had to taste them then we write the name the taste and the textures. Then we went on with the other herbs. my least favorite was the chili flakes it was so spicy  my favorite herb was garlic. Then we talked about what we thought it tasted like.  it was fun!!! we write the stuff in our books.       

My diorama

 

Yesterday we made diorama's it was fun!! I made mine on Waihirere. First miss Joblin gave us our shoe boxes. Then we got some paint to paint the bottom of the box and the top of the box.  Then we decorated our boxes. This is what we used paper tinfoil sticks rocks stickers shoe paper plastic plants. Then we made the writing about our diorama it took about 3 days to finish all of it.        

My report

 

Yesterday our class  did a report. We did one on an octopus a kiwi and a mushroom. this is what we used paper glue and the words that miss Joblin made us

Gisborne Fisheries

 

On Monday Green house and blue house. Went  to gisborne fisheries. first we went up some stairs and I saw some photos of Salve's mum and dad then he told us how he got shipped on a bout to gisborne. Then we went back down stairs again. he took us to this loud room with 6 pools I looked in the first pool and there was nothing in their so i looked in the in the second pool and there was nothing in their so I looked in the third pool and there was crayfish I tried two count but I couldn't but salve told us that there was more than 200 crayfish in one pool. they were all in big clumps.       

Waihirere

 

On Tuesday the school went to waihirere. We went in 3 buses it took 20 minuets from school. we went in house groups. in the buses but when we got there we got into groups of 3 my  budy's were Flora and Marley.First we went looking for koura and water boatmen.it was fun!! then we went on a fifty minute walk to a water Fall on the way Sam the trap man showed us what we could eat in the bush. I never new you could eat this leaf called kawa kawa .when we got back we cooked some kawa kawa on these potbelly stoves that we made. you can also eat this fern called hakiki. it was very yummy then we got to play on the playground that was there.        

ANZAC writing

today our class did some ANZAC day writing it was fun. we had to decorate a ANZAC logo then we had to write down the meaning of our pictures on a table. my favorite part was the designing the logo.

My thinking:
Poppy’s	Poppy’s are so bright and they are bright red with a black middle
War donkeys	Donkeys help carry people when they are hurt and are in need.
medals	Soldiers earn medals by showing courage and bravery. One of the  soldiers gave his medal to our school.
weapons	Soldiers use weapons on intruders and to defend our land. And people. And other peoples lands.
Warships	The soldiers go away to fight other people and to travel to other countries to fight.

The magician

  

 A month ago a magician came to our school we went into the hall and there the magician was there.he was very funny he transformed a bird into a bunny. and he changed a pot into a pot of flowers and he asked Olivia to come up and he gave her a blanket and he had one he could changed his blanket but Olivia could not.

My kittens

 

These are my kittens one is a girl and one is a boy and there names are Willow and Smudge.  Smudge likes to bite your toes and ears. Willow is very shy. they are 8 weeks old Smudge thinks that ruby is his mum so he sucks on Ruby's tummy and this morning mum saw  ruby carrying smudge round the lounge.

Paper cups

Today our class made some paper cups for Ester. This is how you make them 1. get some paper and a ruler and some scissors 2. get the paper and the ruler and the scissors and cut the paper into a 20 centimetre sqwere.

My cat woody

 This is my cat woody he is 12 years old he has a sister  cold Jin jin she all so lives with us. he has special needs we bout him from the SPCA for half  price but I don't now why. he likes to eat dog food and he likes to try to dig hols in the ground that Ruby(our dog) has made I think he might have a problem seeing because when he comes in for food I have to put my hand in and move the cat biscuits around and then he eats then.

tanemahuta sketching

 

This is our class doing tunemahuta sketching that Mrs Joblin set up for us. This is how you  make the art 

1. get some black card and draw your name on the back 

2.get some pastels and draw big splotches and cover the hole paper with the pastels

3.when you are done you pant over it with black pant. 

4. wait till it drys 

5. using a toothpick you can scratch you thing that you are told to draw we were told to draw tanemahuta gaurdein of the forest and birds and insects.

cooking with steam

today our class did a reading activity. Each group had a different activity. Our group had cooking with steam we had to 1.make a copy   2. there will be some stuff to answer  3.you can also look at the book that you read .

whats your favorite pet cat or dog

 last week our class did some judging of what is better cats or dogs? I chose cats because they are fluffy and cuddly they like to play and fight with  each other.  they are funny and clean and tidy.and cats clean up their mess but dogs don't and dogs rip stuff up but cats don't. also cats are very smart.they love moving things and they like to play with cotton and string. 

school triathlon prastice

Our class is practicing for the school triathlon and we had to run round the turf 3 times and when we had finished the run we had to take off our shoes and hop in the pool and we had to  swim  4 length in the pool. We would had to do biking but their is builders around the place were we bike.    

favorite fruit

 here I have what is your favorite fruit apple or banana. We had to rite it in our book then we published.I chose apple because its not mushy and yucky. and you can make apple pie.

 Hi my name is Violet. I am 8 years old and my favorite food is jelly.My favorite sport is net ball, what I like about net ball is when you shot it in the hoop.I have two older brothers named Jack and Tom I find them very annoying.
